Large Wall Quote Art Application Tutorial

Before application, clean desired surface with a clean rag to remove contaminants and other debris. Use a measuring tape or ruler to determine the exact position where your new vinyl sticker will be placed and if you'd like, make a light mark with a pencil to use as a guide.

Before removing the backing paper, rub firmly with the application squeegee over the top of the transfer tape to reactivate the adhesive and ensure the vinyl will adhere to the transfer tape.

Place several 2-3 inch pieces of masking tape along the top edge of the design to attach your vinyl design to the wall.

Use the level to make sure your wall decal is properly oriented (be sure to use the baseline of the design as a guide, not the edge of the backing or transfer tape).

Using the tape along the top of the left side to keep the graphic level, remove the tape from the right side and fold the design over so you can see the grid lines on the backing paper and hold it against the wall.

Starting on the right side, with the design face down, begin peeling the backing paper off. The adhesive backing of the graphic and the opaque transfer tape will be exposed.

Remove approximately half of the backing paper and cut the separated portion (of the backing paper) with scissors.

<------ Do not do this!

Do not try and remove the design face up from the backing paper. This creates a lot more work than necessary and can cause ripping and streching to your design.

This is how your design will look once the backing paper has been removed. The left side will anchor the design and keep it level.

Slowly lower the vinyl graphic back into the position where you can see it from the front, being careful to not let the exposed adhesive touch the wall.

Rub the design into place on the wall with your application squeegee.

Once the right side is applied, remove the masking tape from the left side.

Gently fold the vinyl graphic to the right (do not crease the graphic as you fold it over) and remove the backing paper again with the design face down.

Once the backing paper has been completely removed, use the application squeegee to finish applying the graphic to the wall.

Begin in the middle and move out slowly to make sure that your design adheres equally to the wall. If you focus too much on one area then you may crease the design, so make sure to proceed slowly and evenly.

Once the graphic has been completely applied, rub over the entire design to make sure it adheres firmly to the wall.

Slowly remove the transfer tape from the top of the graphic making sure the graphic doesn't peel away as well.

If you have a 2 color quote, repeat the steps above. Enjoy your new wall art!

Trouble Shooting

"Some letters won't release from the backing paper"

3

Though this problem does sometime occur with small, scripty letters or fine details,
it is almost always solved by following the tutorial instructions above.
Be sure the design is face down as you remove the backing paper.
If you still have trouble, just lay the transfer tape back down, rub over the area again with the application squeegee, and try again. If your design still won't come up, please give us a call and we will be happy to help or send a replacement if necessary.

"Some letters won't stick to the wall, or won't release from the transfer tape"

The secret is to remove the transfer tape slowly. If a portion of your design does not release from
the transfer tape (1), lay that part of the design back down on the wall and rub with the squeegee
or your finger (2) and then try again to peel the tape away from the wall (3), moving slowly.

Avoid pulling the tape off.

Instead, peel it back slowly.

Also, when removing the transfer tape from a design with lots of fine detail, such as a skyline, or a Wall Quotes® decal with thin, scripty letters, it is best to peel the transfer tape back at a sharp angle rather than pull the transfer tape away from the wall. Peeling the tape back will allow the fine details to pop off the transfer tape, whereas pulling the tap off could rip or damage fine details.
